Stability of time reversed waves in changing media

چکیده
We analyze the refocusing properties of time reversed waves that propagate in two different media during the forward and backward stages of a time-reversal experiment. We consider two regimes of wave propagation modeled by the paraxial wave equation with a smooth random refraction coefficient and the Itô-Schrödinger equation, respectively. In both regimes, we rigorously characterize the refocused signal in the high frequency limit and show that it is statistically stable, that is, independent of the realizations of the two media. The analysis is based on a characterization of the high frequency limit of the Wigner transform of two fields propagating in different media. The refocusing quality of the back-propagated signal is determined by the cross correlation of the two media. When the two media decorrelate, two distinct de-focusing effects are observed. The first one is a purely absorbing effect due to the loss of coherence at a fixed frequency. The second one is a phase modulation effect of the refocused signal at each frequency. This causes de-focusing of the back-propagated signal in the time domain.

The rouge waves in an optically injected semiconductor lasers are receiving a lot of interest. In this work, the generating and controlling of the rogue waves in semiconductor lasers have been investigated. For this purpose, the laser’s rate equations are solved numerically in a specified time interval, then the field amplitude and the intensity versus time are calculated and analyzed. To solve...
متن کاملWave field correlations in weakly mismatched random media
This paper concerns the derivation of a Fokker-Planck equation for the correlation of two high frequency wave fields propagating in two different random media. The mismatch between the random media need be small, on the order of the wavelength, and their correlation length need be large relative to the wavelength. The loss of correlation caused by the mismatch in the random media is quantified ...

Background: Primary cultures of embryonic neurons have been used to introduce a model of neurons in physiological and pathological conditions. However, age-related cellular events limit this method as an optimal model in adult neurodegenerative diseases studies. Besides, short-interval changing media in previous cultures decreases the effectiveness of this model. As an example of this matter, w...

Refocusing for time reversed waves propagating in disordered media has recently been observed experimentally and studied mathematically. This surprising effect has a great potential of applications in domains such as medical imaging, underwater acoustics, wireless communications among others. Time refocusing for one-dimensional acoustic waves is now mathematically well understood. In this paper...
